Carpet fibres can be wool, polypropylene, nylon, or a blend. Each type of carpet is made in a slightly different way to create its distinctive look and feel (what we call the pile). The main types of carpet are Saxony, Twist, Woven, Loop (also called Berber), and Velvet.

A short dense Twist pile is best for heavy traffic area’s like stairs and landing. Something like Cormar’s Primo Ultra or Naturals are ideal.

We only use a 9 mm PU foam underlay as standard. Other specialist underlay may be needed if you have underfloor heating.

This depends on many factors, for example how regularly its cleaned, the type of carpet, the area it’s fitted in the house. It is true to say that spending the extra few pounds on an excellent dense short pile carpet will give you longer wear.

A felt back vinyl can be laid over floorboards as long as there are no big gaps between the floorboards, as these will eventually show through. If your floorboards have gaps or are uneven, your floor can be fitted with flooring grade ply beforehand, which will extend the life of the vinyl.

As there is a higher chance of a water leak in a kitchen, either sheet vinyl or luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are the best type of flooring for your kitchen.

Yes, we offer a no obligation free measuring service from both our Ipswich and Stowmarket shops where both of our estimators have many years of experience. We can also bring a variety of samples for you to choose your flooring in your own home.

Yes, we offer an uplift and disposal service which we charge for and can also move items of furniture on request.
We also endeavour to hoover after we have fitted your carpet.

These are entirely different products with their own distinct advantages. With a sheet vinyl as it is one complete sheet with no gaps, so nothing can leak through it causing damage to the subfloor. LVT comes in planks or tiles, but is extremely hard wearing and suitable for all areas. Another main difference is cost, as LVT because of its wear qualities is probably twice the price of a sheet vinyl.

Yes, it does, and we only use a DPM underlay underneath laminate as standard.
